Exercise no. 315 Domperidone, metoclopramide and other neuroleptics used as antiemetics: parkinsonism

Domperidone and metoclopramide, together with alizapride and metopimazine, are neuroleptics used as antiemetics. Domperidone and metopimazine have an unfavourable harm-benefit balance in this situation. They carry a risk of cardiac arrhythmias and sudden death, adverse effects that are disproportionate given the symptoms they are used to treat and their weak efficacy.
